Filming On the Bus!

On the bus we had to have a manager accompany us to make sure we didn’t film anybody else. We got all our shots done. Only Alan forgot Alistair's glasses, and he had a shave. But hopefully we will fix it so that it makes sense.

Filming in Leeds

Filming in Leeds went really well, the creepy background music made our clips look like something out of Stephen Kings IT. Although we did have a little trouble when this ignorant woman came up asking for directions and ruined the shot. Charlotte got really freaked out when this drunken hobo turned out. The guy was telling us a 'story' about how he got this black eye, over heroin. He had a finger missing and only had one tooth!

Filming at Boots

The filming in boots was a complete success, thanks to our little star Eden Rodwell. Working with such a small child did prove to be difficult at times aka dirty nappies. but all in all it all went well. big thanks to the staff at Boots for their full co-operation and letting us film there.

Music cont.

Emma has spoken to Nicral, we have come up with different music to reperesent the different emotions in the short film. he should have this finshed within the week.

Music

We are aware that we need to add music and get rid of some unwanted background noise. We are however, waiting until we have collected all of our neccessary shots, and when we have our film more or less finished.
Emma is meeting nikral (the man that has been hired to make the music) on friday with the screenplay and storyboards to go over the music needed for the film. so that our short film will have its own unique music. that will express the emotions that are expressed in the film. e.g. love, haterd and isolation.

Filming 2

Thursday 8th November

Emma and Alan (aka Alistair) got the 8:12am bus from silsden which arrived in Addingham at 8:36am where I got on. We then together got the bus to Ilkley. We went over our storyboard and screen play to ensure we new exactly what shots we wanted to get. From Ilkley we got back on the bus to Keighley where we started filming. When we arrived in Keighley we got the bus back to Ilkley and repeated this twice. This was so we gave ourselves enough time to get all the footage that we wanted.
We did however encounter some problems along the way. This being that the type material of the seats on the bus changed slightly (colour & pattern) on some of the journey's. This did pose as a problem at first but we adjusted our filming so it wouldn't be obvious to the audience.
We did get all of the shots we intended to, however, we may need to re-do some of them dependent on the quality and if they fit together effectivley.

Week commencing the 12th November: we intend to have two filming sessions this week. These are outside so it depends on weather conditions if they go ahead or not.

On set - filming

Jo - First girl

The 'first girl' is played by Johanna Gill. She has taken on the role of Laurens best friend. She is again in school uniform, however, both her and Lauren change their outfits various times to show the passage of time.

Lauren as Lauren

Lauren is played by Lauren Pinder. She is the girl that Alistair becomes obsessed with and eventually kills.
Here you can see that she is wearing school uniform, this is for the first part of the short film.
We ahve also done a befor during and after her transformation into her character.

Alistair

This is Alan after undergoing his dramatic change in appearence...which he hates!!

Alan before Alistair

Alan Bell - Alistair

Alan faced a dramatic transformation when he agreed to play the role of 'weirdo' Alistair. For the start of brainstorming our original ideas we had a clear image of what we wanted his character to look like.
To ensure we created the correct look we went shopping for his costume.
Alistair is a middle-aged man that is a loner. Even though he is being played by Alan who is in his early twenties we still felt that the costume we had obtained for him made him look considerably older.
Throughout the whole of the short film Alistair remains in the same clothing despite the change in time. This adds to the idea of him being a disgusting 'freak'!
He wears: brown cords, a 80's style pastel shirt, a knitted beige cardigan and flip flops. He also carries what resembles the traditional 'Roy Cropper' handbag!

Filming 1

Tuesday 23rd October
On Set 1 - Ilkley Park

The cast and film crew met at 9:00am at the train station. The characters then went to change into their costume ready for filming.
We filmed for 2 hours at the park ensuring we captured all the relevant footage we required.

Planning section 5 - Treatment

Synopsis
The purpose of our short film will be to entertain and educate. It will outline the key points in Carol Ann Duffy’s poem ‘Education for Leisure’. We aim to interpret the hidden meanings within the poem.

Title
I AM GOD
Charlotte Gill
Emma Pinder

Target Audience
It will be aimed at teenagers of both genders aged 14-19. They would have to have interests in literature, media and thrillers. This is because it would be shown to students studying the poem to give them a greater understanding of it. It would be only for English people of any ethnicity.

Plot Summary
This short film would be filmed outside on streets, on a bus, in a shop and in the protagonist’s living room. (One of the production teams living rooms which we would modify to fit with the story.)
There will be three characters in this short film. The protagonist ‘Gary’, middle aged man who believes he is ‘God’. He is very plain looking wearing glasses, braces and old fashioned clothing.
A sales assistant who serves Gary at a shop, she is wearing the uniform specific to that particular shop.
The third character is the victim – a teenage girl, dressed in casual everyday clothing.

Style
It would be half colour, half black and white. We would use freezes, Dutch angles and we would also purposely break the 180˚ rule. It would be filmed during the day and night to create the correct atmosphere for certain parts of the film. The colours used in the film will be dull to complement the protagonist’s personality.
In the shop it will be light as it is reality – how most people live.
At his house it will be dull.
At the end it will be dark to add to the eeriness of the situation.

Recce
Filming in rain, we have to ensure that we keep the equipment dry.
If we use a dolly or any other equipment we have to make sure we use it correctly and safely.
We also need permission to film on the bus and in the shop – people’s safety.

Scripting & Storyboard Considerations - We will create both parallel to one another.

Ideas

Idea one, I AM GOD

Based on a poem written by Carol Ann Duffy, we have a have creepy man called Gary. Who is old, isolated and believes himself to be God. He feels that the world he lives in does not appreciates him, and that he can be anything he wants to be. He lives a very dull ordinary life, but is deluded into thinking he is better than everyone else.
To demonstrate his weird perception we will show him having an argument with a girl in the shop, over his autograph. In the end he becomes so frustrated with the world that decides to take the life of a young girl on the street.
